![]() ![]() Not much to say, I mean its QUAKE 2! Single player is near flawless, although it can have slowdown when a lot of explosions and enemies are on screen. For those with a dual shock controller AND mouse, your in for a hell of a ride. Finally the gameplay. But for those of you with a dual shock controller, your in for a nice treat. Turning is awkward, shooting is weird, well, you get the idea. While the dual shock controller and mouse are the absolute best, the regular, non dual shock controller falls short. Best sounds in any PlayStation game too date.Controls in this game, well, are hit and miss, sadly. Great sound effects like powerful shotguns, pulsing pulse lasers, and of course, the BFG 10-K. Literally! With in my opinion the absolute best video game music ever, it just makes the super great game even better. Great lighting and realistic weaponry adds to the quality and show you that anything is possible, even a great looking Quake 2 port.Sound in this game rock. Great framerate and detailed environments paired with great 3D models and animations can’t get any better. ![]() But when people heard of it being ported to the N64 and PlayStation, they were a little suspicious in what the final product would look like.Graphics are AMAZING for the PlayStation, probably the best on that platform. Quake 2 was one of the greatest games of all time made by the all too famous ID Software. Quake II is still a noteworthy shooter but it goes towards a hi-tech,bio-organic, cybernetic experiment and does a good job at it.It’s just that the Quake series didn’t stick to a particular formula. Firing a nailgun at an ogre (enemy) wielding a chainsaw and chucking grenades I thought the Quake series was just going to get more grim with every future release in it’s polished form. When playing in the future and you want to continue from your saved state, you can use File > Load State to load up the game from exactly where you last saved it.Before I get into anything about Quake II I have to say if you still own a Sony PlayStation or like first person shooters in general Quake II is definitely a must own! Lots of great things to say about this game…*The levels were well designed*Even today the graphics are pretty good as a 3D polygonal shooter*Love the light sourcing effects that bring realism to the overall look that Quake II has*Very smooth fluid-like gameplay and excellent use of colorThankfully the game has some pretty tough enemies because I notice with 3D shooters you don’t get huge doses of enemies like you get in the older Doom games. So why 4-stars?Well (sigh) I was blown away by the first Quake and there’s plenty of words for it-advanced,dark,creative,or my choice of word would be primitive. You can save your progress in whatever point you like within the game, not only on the official checkpoints offered by the game. ![]() Instead, you’ll need to click File > Save State and then choose an empty slot. The integrated save system will not save your progress. Tip: Saving games on an emulator functions a little differently. The game will now run on the emulator and you can play the game freely. Step 2: return to Retroarch and hit File > Open. A ROM is essentially a virtual version of the game that needs to be loaded into the emulator. ![]() But now you’ll need to find the correct ROMs online. Your emulator will now be ready to play Quake II ISO. After, double click the RetroArch-1.7.5-x86-setup.exe file in order to start the emulator. zip file to a location, for example your Desktop. Once you have finished downloading Retroarch, extract the downloaded. We’d suggest Retroarch – it’s open source, fast and one of the most frequently updated. Step 1: you can start by downloading a reliable and bug free emulator. The second component is the Quake II ISO game itself to play on the emulator. The first component is the emulation program which can imitate the psx OS and software. There are two components for playing a psx Quake II ISO game on your PC. ![]()
